What does COVID-19 stand for?

COVID-19 stands for corona virus disease19. Since it started in December 2019 it was given the number 19.It is also called Novel COVID-19.


What is actually COVID-19?


It is an infectious disease causing corona virus disease all across the globe.It is included in SARS.According to recent  WHO there are currently 40 lakh corona positive patient across the globe out of which 2.5lakh people have died but there is good hope that 14lakh people have recovered from this deadly virus.Currently in India there are 60k people affected from this virus out of which 17k people have recovered and 2k deaths.

Severe acute respiratory sydrome is what SARS stands for.It is a viral respiratory disease of zoonotic origin that came into existence in the early 2000s.The first identifies strain of SARS coronavirus species came in year 2002.In the late 2017,chinese scientist traced the virus through the intermediary of civets in cave-dwelling horseshoe bats in Yunan.So there was no case about such virus since 2004.
In 2019 it successor coronaviru-2{SARS-COV-2} was discovered.And then this virus caused the ongoing pandemic .
